4 Days To A 10K

No, that’s not a joke! I trained 4 days than ran a 10K :)

And no, I do not recommend that anyone do this!

This 4 day to a 10K idea started last Tuesday, 5/14 when my youngest daughter called and said, “Mom, a girl at work can’t run the Rite Aid 10K this weekend. Do you want to run it?” My reply, “Seriously J? I have not been training at all for this. I’ve only been walking/slogging 2-3 miles at a time & my feet have been KILLING me! But sure, I’ll give it a try.”

I hung up the phone and thought what the heck did I just get myself involved in, guess its time to break in my new shoes ;)

And so in 4 days I trained smart… I set a goal to finish vertically in 1:20. I iced, foam rolled, stretched, & was diligent with my AdvoCare supplements, I juiced daily and I DID  IT! Check out my Runkeeper training log:

My point behind this post is that if you want something bad enough you can do it. Put your heart and soul in it and you CAN do it. After the race when I got home my husband sat and ate breakfast with me, told me how proud he was that I went out there and did it. He then left me alone for 3 hours to TLC, soak & reflect on my morning.

Surprising I wasn’t sore. The next day I went out and walked 2 miles after work and then took time to TLC again (that’s the key!) I am registered to run another 10K in August in honor of my Dad & my goal is to run it in 1:10 :)

So set a goal for yourself & JUST GET OUT THERE & DO IT!

I have been so busy with photo shoots, CrossFit classes at capacity, granddaughter time, ME time and life in general but ME time this morning began when I woke up to 50 degree temps, the geese honking & the birds chirping. Perfect opportunity to grab a cup of coffee, my camera and enjoy my deck. Look who stopped in to visit me :)

CrossFit Class At Lodi Library in Medina Ohio

What a fun day I had speaking at the “How To Festival” at Lodi Library today! We spent an hour working on compound movements and discussing the most effective exercises to stimulate the metabolism. We talked about safety & high intensity exercises plus how to implement more advanced moves once strength has improved. We discussed Rhabdomyolysis and how to avoid it. We did some tube work for beginners and also learned how to do ball work for stabilization, balance and core. Everyone in attendance went home with a free tube so they could start their fitness regimen IMMEDIATELY  :)

A special THANK YOU goes out to Librarian Beth at Lodi Library and Tonya at Medina Library for the gift certificate to Thyme restaurant  :) One of my most favorite places to dine!

Tuesday’s at 6:00-6:45PM

Thursday’s at 6:00-6:45PM

Saturday’s at 7:30-8:15AM

** NEW CLASS ** June 12th through July 31st ~ Wednesday’s at 9:30AM. Drop in fee: $20 or 8 classes for $120.

Housewives of Medina CrossFit Class

YAHOa weekend time change means that Spring is just around the corner and yesterday was such a gorgeous day, wasn’t it?! Don & I are in the middle of finishing our kitchen remodel and we had an opportunity to do a lot of the plywood cutting out on the deck. It felt so good to be outside, get a little sunshine ✲ and keep all of that sawdust outdoors :)

And since today is such a rainy ☔ day I had a couple of hours downtime between fitness clients & decided to pull out some of my Spring/Summer clothes. I’m looking forward to wearing my new shorts that I got on clearance last year. I always shop the end of the year sales at the Lodi Station Outlets. I get some great deals on all of the size zeros that nobody fit in ;)

Which brings me to the question… How do your shorts fit this year? Have you achieved all of your weight loss goals? Did you pull out any of your Summer gear yet?
