Medicine Ball Exercises Designed to Torch Fat!

Give me a medicine ball and Ill show you a workout that will knock your socks off leaving you pleasantly fatigued and craving more!

We’ve used medicine balls in the past but this week we’ve decided to implement the larger, leather, Dynamax medicine balls into our workouts. The mission is to focus on training your body in all three planes of motion: up and down, forward and backward, and side to side. Since the medicine ball rarely travels the same path from repetition to repetition it works the entire core, engaging the total body with explosive type exercises that raise the heart rate and allow us to enter that fat burning zone.

As we know, a strong core is essential to stabilize the body and maintain balance and coordination during movement, something that Tonya and I discussed in last nights class. As we age its important to strengthen weak core muscles to improve performance and reduce our risk for injury.

I’d love your feedback on the workout that you did this week. Let me know what you think and what you want to see more of.

It’s time to play ball!

Those balls were awesome!! I enjoyed the workout on Monday evening so much that during our family exercise evening I incorporated the balls into my workout. Monday night, Jaci and I used the 12lb one and Wednesday I used the 14lb one…WOW what a difference 2 lbs make 🙂

Wait til you see what med ball training does to your split time on the rower Britt. Last night Renee was pulling in the low 2’s effortlessly while Tonya rocked the house thrusting a 12 pounder on the leg kick outs, a killer ab exercise. Now that was impressive! Growl a little bit Tonya!!

At this morning class, Marsha slammed Patti on the BOSU ball with repetitive explosive throws using 12#, talk about total core engagement!

Time to BLAST SOME FAT! Be sure to stretch and hydrate 🙂
