Time to Get Organized!!

I just love this weather that we’ve had here in Ohio. We’ve been blessed with a mild winter and now 85 degree temps the 1st week of May. Perfect weather for my new adventure called “running”

I’ve been running, well, slogging, since December when my youngest daughter suggested that I do a half-athon with her in August 2012. Well that’s not happening because this old body just can’t seem to get past the 6 mile mark before my feet just can’t take it anymore!

Does anyone else experience this when they are running? I’ve tried EVERYTHING from icing, to tennis balls, to supports in my shoes and I still can’t break that 6 mile mark?! If anyone has any suggestions, I’m all ears!

So with this warm weather comes the need to reorganize my closets and break out the summer gear. The best part about this is that last year when I went through all of my old summer clothes, I threw out items that I’d been wearing for 4+ years which gave me the opportunity to hit the clearance racks at the outlet mall and Victoria Secrets online clearance buying a ton of new shorts, shirts and workout clothes.

So yesterday as I dug out all those storage totes it was like Christmas in May 🙂 and since the girls are now grown & gone, I get the spare room for all of my clothes!! Such a great feeling to get both closets organized 🙂

But the best part was that when I tried everything on it all fit perfect 🙂 Well, actually the best part was when Don came home from work walking in the door yelling his usual, “Honey, I’m home.” sets his lunch pail down, spins around and says, “WOW, where did you get that dress? You look really sexy in that!!”

haha, nice to know that after 30 years of marriage I can still turn my husbands head 🙂

    Hey Carole! It’s been a long time. I’ve enjoyed reading about you getting into running and I’m an avid runner. I’ve done 2 half marathons and many 5ks now. The key to running an getting past 6 miles first is to know you can. It’s mentality. It WILL hurt and you WILL want to quit. The second part is having a good pair of shoes. I love asics- I just got kayano 18 asics and they are amazing. Other keys are compressing your legs with ace wraps, elevate your legs too, and ice all at the same time. Hope you get past it!!

      Hi Jamie!! Thanks for the suggestions. I am running in Asics Kayano’s. I actually bought 2 pair so that I could switch off. I know that I need to focus on the mental aspects of running and I haven’t tried the ace wraps yet but will try it on Sunday when I head out for a 6 mile run. Some day I want to be able to run those half-athons just like you 🙂

    The best part is that after mom cleans out her closet I get a text saying “cleaned out closets, there is a bag here for you ;)” LOVE that my momma and I are the same size!!! xoxoxo
