I have been so busy with photo shoots, CrossFit classes at capacity, granddaughter time, ME time and life in general but ME time this morning began when I woke up to 50 degree temps, the geese honking & the birds chirping. Perfect opportunity to grab a cup of coffee, my camera and enjoy my deck. Look who stopped in to visit me 🙂
So be sure to “stop in” leave a comment or just say hi!!
Create an ACTIVE day!
“I have come to accept the feeling of not knowing where I am going. And I have trained myself to love it. Because it is only when we are suspended in mid-air with no landing in sight, that we force our wings to unravel and alas begin our flight. And as we fly, we still may not know where we are going to. But the miracle is in the unfolding of the wings. You may not know where you’re going, but you know that so long as you spread your wings, the winds will carry you.” ― C. JoyBell C.
YAHOO a weekend time change means that Spring is just around the corner and yesterday was such a gorgeous day, wasn’t it?! Don & I are in the middle of finishing our kitchen remodel and we had an opportunity to do a lot of the plywood cutting out on the deck. It felt so good to be outside, get a little sunshine ✲ and keep all of that sawdust outdoors 🙂
And since today is such a rainy ☔ day I had a couple of hours downtime between fitness clients & decided to pull out some of my Spring/Summer clothes. I’m looking forward to wearing my new shorts that I got on clearance last year. I always shop the end of the year sales at the Lodi Station Outlets. I get some great deals on all of the size zeros that nobody fit in 😉
Which brings me to the question… How do your shorts fit this year? Have you achieved all of your weight loss goals? Did you pull out any of your Summer gear yet?
If you need to kick up your workout routine & you’re available on Tuesday mornings at 9:30AM give me a call at 330.948.FITT. We have a new 4-week CrossFit class forming that will consist of indoor rowing and some ➨ KILLER CrossFit routines. I’d LoVe to work with you 🙂

Today I received a few emails asking for my best green juice recipe. I’ll be honest with you, the joke around my house is that I am no Betty effin’ Crocker and I tend to just ‘throw’ things together. I don’t measure, I improvise with whatever I have in the fridge, I leave ingredients out, I add odd things, and I basically just do my own thing.
So here’s what my green juice looked like today 🙂
I pulled out my Juiceman II and grabbed a handful of kale, some celery stalks, pineapple, 1 large peeled cucumber and a chunk of lemon. All of these items juiced together tasted AMAZING& it was so refreshing!
And since this is THE year (I told my hubby it was all about me this year! ha) that I turn the BIG 5.0. I also wanted to share some stats with you on what other 50-year-old women are doing in the gym. Check out what some of the top, more mature, CrossFit Girls are doing:
I don’t know about you but those kind of stats motivate & inspire me to continue to train HARD & SMART! And my CrossFit Girls here at CrossFit Commotion have been kickin’ ass and takin’ names!
The CrossFit Girls KILLED “Cupid’s Revenge” on Valentines Day & ROCKED the studio walls 🙂
And a special SHOUT OUT to Julie who totally SMASHED the Valentines Day workout in these SMOKIN’ HOT socks!
And for those of you looking to strengthen your core & do a plank a day, I found this 21 Day Plank Challenge that you might want to try!
If you’ve read any of my previous posts, you may remember that I’ve been giving my granddaughter fresh veggie/fruit juice since she was little. We’d call it her “magic juice” & within 30 minutes she would be wired & alert ready to read, exercise and tackle the day. Seems that all of those vitamins and minerals went right thru her blood and she’d be laughing and running around like a maniac wanting to go to the studio to get her “workout in!”
It’s no different today except now she is juicing all by herself! First she washes all of her produce.
And then safely places them in the Juiceman II being sure to ALWAYS use the plunger to feed the produce through 🙂
Sometimes she gets frustrated with me because I don’t allow her to juice all of the veggies left in the fridge and then she really gets flustered when I throw some beets in to ‘give it some color’ ~ hahaha
But she is so proud and excited to share her finished product with me 🙂 Just look at the little face… she’s like, what do you think Nay Nay?!
And now that Peyton can do all of this juicing by herself, while I’m in the kitchen watching her, it frees up time for me to get this awesome stuffed mushroom dish together for our paleo dinner.
And while she cleans her mess up it also gives me time to mix up a healthy egg omelet for her lunch 🙂
So tell me… have any of you pulled your juicers out yet?
If not, why not? I love my juicer!! I have a really old JuicemanII that I’ve had for about 10 years now & whenever I juice I am instantly energized, my skin looks better, I sleep better and my skinny jeans fit just a little looser 🙂
Check out this green juice that I made yesterday!
This is the same Classic Green Juice from the juicing documentary,“Fat, Sick & Nearly Dead” – I’ve included the recipe below. It’s super easy to make & tastes GREAT!
1 bunch of kale
4 stalks of celery
2 granny smith apples
1 inch ginger root
Do you like beets? I never liked beets while I was growing up and then when I married Don he mentioned that his family rarely ate them so we didn’t incorporate them into our diet, well, until last year when I was at our local farmers market and I saw these BEAUTIFUL beets grown by Camel Creek Farm. I bought them, roasted them and now we have a new love for beets!
And then I found this recipe for juicing beets and enjoyed it for breakfast this morning:
1 handful of baby carrots
1 green apple
3 celery stalks
1 small piece of ginger
Look at all that color on that plate!! And when I juiced all of that color it was actually very pretty and tasted
For snack later today I’ve decided to try this Pineapple Green Juice:
Can you believe it’s February 5th already? And since Punxsutawney Phil, the weather prognosticating groundhog, did not see his shadow, according to legend, that means that Spring is less than 6 weeks! YAHOO!!!
And ya know what that means? That means warm enough weather to get back outside for our outdoor CrossFit classes here in beautiful Medina, Ohio! It’s almost tire flippin’ time Ladies so let’s get fired up!
And with our outdoor classes comes some tug of war games!
And yes, some outdoor running so it’s the perfect time to start prepping for the Warrior Dash, ColorRun and our newest race in Columbus on September 14th, the PrettyMuddy 5K!
Which btw we have decided that for all of our upcoming races our team name will be WTF – Where’s The Finish!
So Ladies we have a ton of work to do over the next few months & our focus is on intense ROWING & SAFE & HEAVY LIFTING!
Check out Joy, she KICKED ASS the other day with a back squat of 205 pounds 🙂
And Patti was right with her squatting 185 pounds!
And then Brittney & Angie ROCKED out this KILLER circuit SMASHING everyone’s time completing 100 Thrusters, 90 Pushups, 80 T2B, 70 KB Swings, 60 SDHP, 50 Wall Balls in 22:47!!!
A special birthday celebration for Michele & Beth with 105 BURPEES in tonight’s CrossFit class with Sue & Momma Michele tying it up and determining the WINNER with a PLANK OFF! Sue walked away with this beautiful pair of VS panties and a total fat loss of 4% in 6 weeks time equivalent to 7 pounds of fat weight gone FOREVER!!!

So much to do and so little time! I have not been updating this blog and I apologize for that. Between nursing my hubby back to health, trying to get my running in and teaching a ton of CrossFit classes, the days have just gotten away from me!
Quick update on Don: He is doing AWESOME!! The surgery was on 1/03 at Southwest General Hospital Heart & Vascular Institute.
He needed a few minutes of quiet time as he walked to the surgical unit to prep for his new pacemaker. We were both a little nervous but knew that without this procedure he would die so right before Christmas we made some decisions… we knew the what, we just didn’t know the where, who & when.
We chose Southwest General because seven years ago Don had his mechanical valve implanted there. Although his surgeon who performed the implant has retired we loved the Southwest staff, the service & thought the entire hospital experience was FANTASTIC! We found Dr Giannattasio online after some extensive research and decided that he would be our “main electrician” for the pacemaker procedure.
After a quick check in we were back in surgical prep & waiting for Dr. G to finish another surgery and take Don in for his new life saving device.
Two hours later Dr G came out to tell us that our bionic man was a rock star! Don did great and everything went as expected! If anyone needs a cardiologist, this is your man! He spoke English and he explained EVERYTHING to us in detail. We just LOVE this guy!!
An overnight stay to be sure the pacemaker is functioning well and a quick release the next morning 🙂
A little rehab from his Trainer wife, hee hee, plus a regimen of AdvoCare products and Don was back to work six days later 🙂
Today is Day 12 of Don’s 24 Day AdvoCare Challenge and he feels like a million bucks! I LOVE seeing him get excited about the products and what they have done for his recovery. I have been involved with AdvoCare since October 2012 and have nothing but praise for their products! Today I tried this for the first time.
And all I can say is WOW!! I ran almost 5 miles in less than an hour and felt AMAZING!! Keep in mind that this was only my 4th time out running in the past two months so this is quite an accomplishment for this little ole’ lady who never runs 🙂 Here’s a little info on this PRO-20 product:
Hydrolyzed protein for fast absorption
Supports building lean muscle mass*
Helps improve reaction time and agility*
Helps increase power output and accelerate gains in speed and strength*
B vitamins for energy*
Electrolytes for recovery and maintenance*
Oh and that along with a spoonful of motivation from my iPhone running buddy who was sitting at home drinking coffee and texting me the whole time 🙂 haha
It’s these little things that keep me going plus logging my accomplishments that make me smile & keep me fit 🙂
My CrossFit girls are kickin’ ass and takin’ names! Classes are booming and everyone who has been putting in 100% is seeing the RESULTS from all of their hard work! I’ll update you on all of that SOON!!!
