Have you seen the #RoadID yet?

It’s Who I Am and I just got mine a couple weeks ago! Check it out, I love it!

I decided to purchase this #RoadID after one of my long slogs’ when a young driver was talking on her cell phone & almost hit me. It seems that noone pays attention on these country roads, flying over the hilly terrain, talking & texting on their cell phones and that incident just scared the heck out of me. A couple times per week I lace up my tennies, lock the house and set out for a quick run around the neighborhood. I would grab a house key & my iPhone to track my distance but I’d never take any form of identification in the event of an emergency.

RoadIDWell not anymore because now I snap on my cool lookin’ #RoadID and I feel a lot safer knowing that if medical personal assist me they will be armed with all of the necessary info to contact my loved ones & get me the fastest care possible. If you’re a runner/walker/hiker/cyclist or know anyone who is, please share this post with them and order by clicking the pic above or click this link. This RoadID would make a great birthday, Christmas or anniversary gift & you may just save your life or someone you love!

I also wanted to fill you in on what is happening here at the studio.

Pole dance class medina ohioWe are expanding and turning the garage into a pole strength training studio!!! You may have noticed that we are moving cabinets out, painting the ceilings and preparing to paint the walls. Please bear with us as we are having a contractor come in on 8/16 to lay the new epoxy floor and we will take the remainder of August to secure the poles & add the finishing touches 😉

stripper pole classes medina ohio

Unfortunately due to the space needed to twirl, invert and climb, we only have two poles & this type of training requires a lot of strength & concentration to perform the exercises safely so we will not be using the poles in our group #CrossFit classes 😦 I will however be scheduling private and pair training sessions for these classes so if you are interested in scheduling be sure to get in NOW. I am booking into September for these sessions.

CrossFit Medina

Oh & this years Kids Fitness Class was a blast! We had 12 children participate in the 6 week session & we had a ton of fun! We ended the series with a costume party & a social that included watermelon & an opportunity for the kids to sit & chat. We had a few kids missing for this class pic due to other commitments but next year we’ll be sure to host a couple different weeks of costume fun so everyone can get involved!

CrossFit Kids

Thank you to all of the parents that shared their little ones with me. I enjoyed teaching them & look forward to seeing them all back next year!

Day 34 in the Paleo Cave

You know what that means?! Only 39 more days until the BIG day! I can’t believe that my oldest has been married for 6 years and now my baby is getting married! Oh and speaking of my oldest, she just got a new job and Don & I are so proud of her!! CONGRATS Brittney ~ great things are happening for you right now and you so deserve it!!

And in just a few weeks my little Princess will be starting pre-school 🙂

So since the Lodi Outlet Mall is practically in my backyard, I spent part of the morning looking for some summer clearance specials for her since she’ll be going to a new school. I found three, size 4T, Ralph Lauren dresses on clearance PLUS another 30% off !! Polo rarely does this so I was in HEAVEN 🙂 Cute, aren’t they?!

And whenever I’m not in my workout gear teaching, I love to wear dresses so when I found this Polo dress on clearance I was PUMPED 🙂

Oh and I also found this Ralph Lauren shirt dirt cheap. It goes perfect with my Ann Taylor orange shorts that I found on clearance a few weeks ago.

I had an extra 2 hours to spare this afternoon so I ran my car thru the car wash over by the outlet mall (you can save $2 ANYTIME with code #32580), brought my black beauty  home, took a clay bar to it then waxed it. My ‘catwoman mobile’ (Don nicknamed my car that, lol) is pimpin’ now! What a great workout that was!!

As far as my Paleo intake today, after a quick 30 minute CrossFit workout this morning I made an easy breakfast of eggs and bacon with a side of blueberries & since I went out shopping I opted to have a spinach, flax oil, red maca, banana smoothie when I got back home.

For dinner we settled on bison burgs, fresh picked beets from my sister in-law, Terri, and fresh picked veggies from our garden.

A great day with gorgeous weather and excited for tomorrows CrossFit class since we’ll be outside flippin’ tires, jumpin’ rope and playin’ tug o war. If you are scheduled for the 6PM CrossFit class dress in your old workout clothes cuz we’re all gonna be a hot sweaty mess!

Hydrate & wear your sunscreen 🙂

Hello “Chelsea”

50 minutes invested in today’s workout and it felt FANTASTIC! But the best part was when Jaci showed up to workout rockin’ the 80’s hairdo and bringing a little Richard Simmons into my day!

Out of my two daughters, J is by far the most entertaining and it’s always non-stop laughter when she’s around 🙂

We decided that since it was still daylight and a warm 35 degrees out that we’d get a quick 2 mile warmup in. As always she blew me away but came back to run the last 1/4 mile home with me. She’s such a great runner and I was totally impressed by her 10 minute miles. I’m so proud of her and excited to run a few 5K’s with her this year. We still have our goal of the half-athon in August even if I have to crawl to the finish line!

Tonight I decided that she could pick our “poison” for our CrossFit workout and she chose “Chelsea” – she wrote Cindy on the board (I think her hair was tied a little to tight & she got confused) but we ended up doing Chelsea.

I can see how she got confused cuz Cindy looks like this:

▪ 5 Pull-ups  ▪ 10 Push-ups  ▪ 15 Squats *** As many rounds as possible in 20 minutes

And Chelsea looks like this: Each minute on the minute for 30 minutes: ▪ 5 Pull-ups  ▪ 10 Push-ups  ▪ 15 Squats

We also added some PVC dips to the mix cuz she is obsessed with having “Wedding Arms” by September! Her arms are looking ABSolutely beautiful and I can’t wait to go for her next dress fitting, I already notice the difference in her body since we purchased it 🙂 I hope that we didn’t jump the gun and order it too soon!

It seems everyone was a little sore from the Fight Gone Bad and the Barbara workout. Angie left a nice little note on the whiteboard and is starting to get some response. Be sure to add your feedback the next time you are in 🙂

Stay focused on your ‘fuel’ this week and be sure to get in at least 1/2 your body weight in ounces of water!! Cheers to a healthy, goal oriented week 🙂

Running on a state route

Does anyone know if it is illegal to run on a state route? Jaci and I ran a quick 5K today and since most of the sidewalks were snow-covered and icy (yep, I ALMOST biffed it!) we decided to run portions of it on the road running single file, against traffic on a state route. And no, we weren’t running down the middle of the road being obnoxious and raising a bunch of ruckus! lol

Another fun-filled day in the life of the Laney’s 🙂 Go figure… we got pulled over by an overweight, out of shape, mean, Wadsworth cop. Lights and all! haha. I’m sure he didn’t have his morning donut fix and was probably a little jealous of us out there enjoying our brisk, refreshing run but he really didn’t have to be so mean about it.

I even thought about stopping in at the police dept and letting them know that they should keep the sidewalks clear for those of us that want to stay fit without breaking a leg. I’m sure the city would not want a lawsuit on their hands had I fallen and broke my leg in front of the police dept.

Does anyone know what the law states here in Ohio? I Googled it and couldn’t find anything.

Twas the morning of Christmas

And all through this house

Not a creature is stirring, not even my spouse

Although empty nesters there’s no time to rest. Time to go running and put my heart to the test

Our kids will be coming & wanting to eat

They’ll tear thru the house, start looking for treats

They’ll find a few presents & gifts wrapped with care

But the best present of all will be that they’re there!

May All Your Wishes & Dreams Come True!

Merry Christmas And A Happy Healthy New Year!!

Have you set your goals for 2012 yet? This year I decided that Jaci and I both needed a few things to release some pre-wedding stress & accomplish all of our upcoming goals so for Christmas this year I booked a world class get-away at Big Red’s Lodges for a fun mother-daughter adventure and I called it the “14 Days of Fitness.”

Everyday for 2 weeks Jaci received clues about her gift. She knew by the 4th clue that it was exercise related but (I think) she didn’t know where or exactly what her gift consisted of. Here are the clues:

  1. 2 hr drive
  2. no alcohol
  3. lots of water
  4. structure
  5. fine linens
  6. footbridge
  7. world class
  8. heart
  9. big red
  10. rose
  11. life-changing
  12. hot-bod
  13. the gift that keeps on giving

Big Red’s is on the campus of the Ohio Health McConnell Heart Health Center. We will have full access to the facility including the sauna and indoor pool during our stay.

You can check out some photo’s here:  http://www.ohiohealth.com/bigredslodges-outside

So Merry Christmas Jaci Leigh : ) your “14 Days of Fitness” present is a 2 hour drive to Columbus leaving promptly at 1:00PM. Please pack your swimsuit, workout clothes and tennies then get EXCITED cuz we are going on yet another life-changing, peewee adventure!

Oh, and please don’t be late, your dietician, Rose, is scheduled to test your ‘hot-bod’ in the POD then join us for an evening of laughter and antioxidants at 6:00PM.  And yes, I’m bringing the camera for this laughter-filled adventure!

After a peaceful nights sleep on fine linens in your fully furnished cabin, you will awaken to the flames from your fireplace & the aroma of freshly ground Folgers (w/o Bailey’s ~ remember no alcohol today) you’ll then enjoy a health conscious early morning breakfast at the cafe after your 20 minute jog over the footbridge, through the wetlands and down Peggy’s path. The history here is the motivation we need to “stay the course towards a stronger heart.”

A quick clean-up after our run and packing lots of water, we’re off on a short 15 minute drive to meet our new running coach, Jeanette

Jeanette is a lifelong runner and a certified ChiRunning Instructor. She will spend 4 structured hours teaching us how to be more efficient and injury free while training for the Bridal BootCamp ‘Half-athon’ !!

The gift that keeps on giving : ) I’m sooooo PUMPED!! Cheers to the best year ever!

Can You Please Help J in the Susan G. Komen 5K ??

Hey All!!

A few of you have asked me if I will be participating in the Susan G. Komen 5K Run this year and the answer is YES! This is a cause I am very passionate about and hope to continue to participate in. It started 2 years ago when I did the 3-Day Walk in Boston and I was completely blown away by the camaraderie of the event and the amazing and impressive men and women who participate.  A year later, after I moved back to Ohio, I participated in the 5K in Cleveland and was reminded of what an awesome event this is. It is such a great way to support and give to a great cause and to meet a lot of amazing strong powerful women along the way.

With that being said, since a few of you have asked, I just wanted to provide you with ways you can help. You can follow this link to donate. Proceeds go toward finding a cure for breast cancer and remember every little bit helps to go a long way. So if you are willing and able to help out it is greatly appreciated.

Or you can RUN or WALK w/ me! I would love to have you on my team. Again follow this link and then just click “join my team”. You can either participate in the 5K and walk or run it OR you can walk a 1 mile run. Remember every little thing helps and this is such a great event- I recommend it to any of you!

If you all have any questions please let me know! No pressure at all to donate or participate but since I had a few request I thought I would share the information with everyone!

Take Care,

Jaci Laney
